Should Walsall sign Jamie Paterson?

The Saddlers have been linked with the signing of former red Jamie Paterson, who played for the club from 2010-2013, making 102 appearances and scoring 16 goals in all competitions.
Since leaving, Pato has had a long and successful career, notably in the Championship with Huddersfield, Swansea City and Coventry City. He also enjoyed a spell abroad playing in the USA. Operating primarily as an attacking midfielder, he spent the most recent campaign at Plymouth Argyle making 22 appearances, with no goal involvements.
At 34, you do have to wonder whether we are following a tried and tested, unsuccessful method in the transfer market of bringing older, bigger reputation players into the club to help develop the younger players brought in, and whether this is a route we should go down again - but the quality that Paterson has shown throughout his career does make a good argument to support signing him.
His best goalscoring season came during his first spell at Walsall, where in his final season at the club he netted 13 times, from 51 appearances. If he can find form anywhere near that good, now in a lower division, he could become a crucial goalscoring piece of Lee Grant's team. In a pre-season where goals have proved to be scarce, this could be the logic behind Paterson's connection to the club.
Do you think Walsall should sign Jamie Paterson?
